Paul Gazelka is a small business owner in central Minnesota, and in addition this book, published Behind the Veil in 2024, recounting a later chapter of his life’s story integrating principles of Christian faith into his role as a political figure.

Marketplace Ministers shares Paul’s personal discovery of how we can integrate our faith in Jesus into the workplace and community in which we live. We are all ministers of the gospel in some way, what does that look like in the place we work and live? Some refer to various spheres of influence as the seven mountains of influence, Paul simply says that living as one of God’s ministers is simply being sensitive to what is God is doing right in front of you, and joining God in His work.

In 2004, Paul began his 14-year legislative career, often saying, “I wasn’t looking for politics, politics found me”. Through his legislative career, in a state that leans Democrat, he ended up serving as Minnesota’s longest serving Republican Senate Majority Leader in modern times.

Gazelka was Senate Majority Leader when Vice Presidential Candidate, Tim Walz, was governor. Gazelka, who is diplomatically firm but kind, found himself standing against Tim Walz during the Minneapolis riots that occurred after the death of George Floyd in May of 2020.

Gazelka’s faith in Jesus played an important role in building bridges with the opposing side, treating people the way he would want to be treated, and even how he confronted Tim Walz, when they disagreed.
